Volunteer: Young Peacebuilders Development Associate

Start Date:  As soon as possible

Hours:  5-12 hours weekly to be agreed

Commitment:  5 months minimum

Location:  Anywhere with good communications & Internet

About Young Peacebuilders (YP)

Young Peacebuilders nurtures peacebuilding passion and skills in violence-affected children and youth.  We do this through partnerships, research, projects, and tools that help young people build peace in their own communities and abroad. In this way YP helps prevent and end cycles of violence. We also help design effective child and youth peacebuilding projects, tools, and research for others. Our goal is to see a major shift in the dominant method of addressing contemporary conflicts toward investing in young people as peacebuilders. More at YoungPeacebuilders.com.


Responsibilities

  • Search for and identify child and youth peacebuilding related contracts and grants for which Young Peacebuilders is eligible to apply

  • Help prioritize and set timeline for applications

  • Draft applications or edit existing application documents, including: grant proposals, work-plans, budgets, cover letters, concept notes, and organizational capacity statements

  • Help hold relevant staff and partners accountable to agreed content/application deadlines

  • Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Regular access to the Internet

  • Extremely trustworthy

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication in English

  • Learner with ability to work remotely

  • Attention to detail and problem solver

  • Disciplined independent worker

  • Technologically savvy with significant computer experience

Experience desired but NOT required: Graphic design, peacebuilding, international development work, child and/or youth work, fundraising, and donor management
